Our Chief

He has joined the assignment of Chief, CPEC/WTO Cell on June 25, 2020 in addition to his own duties of Agricultural Economist / Deputy Director, Planning & Evaluation Cell. He has served in the Agriculture Department on different positions i.e., Deputy Director (M&E), Assistant Director (Coordination) and Assistant Research Officer since 2007. He has done his M.Sc. (Hons) Development Economics from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad in 2006. He got short term trainings from national and international institutes like LUMS, MPDD and Griffith University (Brisbane), Australia.

Dr. Riaz Hussain, Director of Agriculture (Plant Protection), Pest Warning & Quality Control of Pesticides (PW&QCP), Rice Zone, Lahore, was entrusted with additional charge of Chief of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Unit / WTO Cell of Agriculture Department, Government of Punjab, Lahore since March 25, 2020.

He did his Ph.D in Agricultural Entomology from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan. He had vast experience of about 30 years in the field of pest warning and quality control of pesticides. He joined the PW&QCP Wing of Agriculture Department as an Agricultural Officer (PP) in February 26, 1990 on recommendation of the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC). He was promoted as Assistant Director of Agriculture (PP) in December 02, 2009 but soon, on recommendation of PPSC, he joined as Deputy Director of Agriculture (Quality Control of Pesticides) in the office of Director General (PW&QCP), Punjab, Lahore on December 12, 2009. Later, he was promoted as Director of Agriculture (PP) on October 11, 2017.

He  was serving as Chief CPEC Unit, Lahore. Earlier, he served as EDO, Dera Ghazi Khan in 2005 and in Muzafargarh, Vehari and Toba Tek Singh till 2016. He was appointed as Senior Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Protection) in 2001. He served as Provincial Coordinator of Fruits and Vegetables at Lahore from 1997-1999. He was selected as Deputy Director through PPSC. He entered in Agriculture Department as Agriculture Officer in 1991. He has completed his M.Sc (Hons) Entomology from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad and done his masters in Computer Sciences in 2001.
